Description

Business note from James Seaman to Joseph Birdsel (alternate spelling of "Birdsall"). In the note, Seaman requests that Birdsall credit the barer hear of one pint of rum & place to my a count." Note: Birdsall owned a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. He was also a surveyor, a partner in a grist mill, a teacher in the Jerusalem school, and a lieutenant in the loyalist militia.
