They were farmers in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. John B. Garner also appeared to have continued operating John C. Birdsall’s general store after Birdsall's death.

Note: Langdon operated a mill near his house on the Mill River at Near Rockaway, N.Y.; he also probably owned a farm at Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y.
