On the verso is a receipt for that same amount, paid by William Landing (another alternate spelling for &quot;Langdon&quot;) on behalf of his brother John&#039;s account. Note: John Langdon operated a mill near his house on the Mill River at Near Rockaway, N.Y.; he also probably owned a farm at Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. <br />
