Shortly after takeoff from Mitchel Field, the P-47, which was piloted by 1st Lt. Daniel R.A. Duncan, crashed into the Fixler&#039;s house and the house of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Briggs. Duncan was killed in the crash and the Fixler’s house was destroyed; the Briggs’ house suffered extensive damage.]]></dcterms:description>
