Carved on the tombstone was a violin with the bridge let down, above which was the inscription: “Entirely Tone-Less.” Beneath the violin was Clapp’s epitaph, which was written by Micah Hawkins and published by J.J. Heatley of Smithtown. Printed text on verso includes epitaph and a few other brief details.
