Notation on verso states that Mears received payment, at Hempstead, N.Y., in full from John Thomas for account of John Langdon in July 1772.

Note: Langdon operated a mill near his house on the Mill River at Near Rockaway, N.Y.; he also probably owned a farm at Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y.

"Recd of: 29th March 1720 of Mr. John Langdon [illegible] Discount the full Balle [balance?] of all acct betwixt us to this day I say recd for Self & Co:”.
