Description

Joseph Birdsall account statement for Richard Jackson for the period July 15, 1774, through December 20, 1776. The balance owing was seven pounds, eight shillings, and four and a quarter pence. Items purchased included rum, fabrics, and a pair of gloves. Note: Birdsall owned a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. He was also a surveyor, a partner in a grist mill, a teacher in the Jerusalem school, and a lieutenant in the loyalist militia.
