Description

Business note from Gilbert Jones to Joseph Birdsall. In the note, Jones requests Birdsall to "let the bearer hereof have a quarter of a pound of tea & a half golon [sic] of molasses and I will see you paid. Please to send me a bill of the cost." Note: Birdsall owned a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. He was also a surveyor, a partner in a grist mill, a teacher in the Jerusalem school, and a lieutenant in the loyalist militia.
