Description

Promise to pay note for one pound, nine shillings, and six pence from Henry Totten to John Garner. Note: Garner arrived in the United States from Armagh County, Northern Ireland, and settled in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y., sometime round 1801. He was a teacher at the Jerusalem school and also was a business partner in John C. Birdsall’s general store. It also seems likely that he was a business partner of James Jackson's.
