Description

Letter from S.A. Smith, Hempstead Hardware, Farmers Depot and Feed Store to John B. Garner concerning a discrepancy over riddles (coarse sieves used for separating chaffs from grain, etc.) that Garner had ordered from the store. Note: Garner resided in Jerusalem, N.Y. (present-day Wantagh). He was a son of John Garner (?-1833) and Sarah Birdsall (1790-1836). He was a farmer and also appeared to have continued operating John C. Birdsall’s general store after Birdsall’s death.
