Receipt for payment of $57.31 made by Mr. Garner [would most likely have been John B. or William Garner, Sr.] to D.B. Smith & Son for the purchase of guano. The location written at the top of the receipt is Smithville, which was later Smithville South and is present-day North Bellmore. Note: William and John B. were sons of John Garner (?-1833) and Sarah Birdsall (1790-1836). They were farmers in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. John B. Garner also appeared to have continued operating John C. Birdsall’s general store after Birdsall's death.
