Receipt for payment of $50.29 made by William Garner, Sr., to E.H. Walters, Dealer in Dry Goods, Groceries, Hardware, Boots and Shoes, Feed and Grain, at Smithville, which was later Smithville South and is present-day North Bellmore, N.Y. The payment was for the purchase of bone, which was used as fertilizer. Note: Garner was a son of John Garner (?-1833) and Sarah Birdsall (1790-1836). He was a farmer and resided in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y.
