Description

John C. Birdsall liquor license (document is titled "Grocer's Licence" [sic]) signed by the Board of Commissioners of Excise for the Town of Hempstead. The license permitted Birdsall to sell "spirituous liquors and wines, in quantities less than five gallons." Note: John C. Birdsall was a partner in a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y.
