Description

Business note from Johanas Van Cots, Jr., to Joseph "Bursham" (alternate spelling of "Birdsall"). In the note, Van Cots requests that Birdsall "let the Benimin [sic] Post have as much out of your shop coms to three shilings [sic]." Note: Birdsall owned a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. He was also a surveyor, a partner in a grist mill, a teacher in the Jerusalem school, and a lieutenant in the loyalist militia.
