Description

Business note from Gilbert Jones to Joseph Birdsall. In the note, Jones requests that Birdsall "let the bearer hereof have a half Dozen Sheets of paper that is good and clean an place it to my account and in so Doing you will oblige your friend." The address on the top of the note was "Bedels Neck," which may possibly have been in the Town of Oyster Bay. Note: Birdsall owned a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. He was also a surveyor, a partner in a grist mill, a teacher in the Jerusalem school, and a lieutenant in the loyalist militia.
