Description

Business note from Jonathan Johnson to Joseph Birdsall. In the note, Johnson requests that Birdsall "let the bearer Jonathan Rafael have on my accompt - half a gallon of molases & I will see you paid for the same." Note: Birdsall owned a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. He was also a surveyor, a partner in a grist mill, a teacher in the Jerusalem school, and a lieutenant in the loyalist militia.
