Description
Receipt for 28 pounds for payment made by Joseph Birdsall to Willett & [Ob]adiah Seaman, New York City merchants. The total amount of the bill was 37 pounds, 4 shillings, and 2 pence. Items purchased included dry goods and rum. Note: Birdsall owned a general store in Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y. He was also a surveyor, a partner in a grist mill, a teacher in the Jerusalem school, and a lieutenant in the loyalist militia.
