Description

Business note from Derick Albertson to his cousin John Langdon. In the note, Albertson asks that Langdon pay one pound and eighteen shillings to the barer, William Pa[illegible due damage to the note]ce, which was an amount due to Albertson for work that he did at Langdon's mill. The location written at the top of the note was "Musketo Cove," which is present-day Glen Cove, N.Y. (There were various spellings of of the word Musketo.) Note: Langdon operated a mill near his house on the Mill River at Near Rockaway, N.Y.; he also probably owned a farm at Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y.
