Description

Receipt for payment of $52.50 made by John B. Garner to Theo. A. Carman, Dealer in Stoves, Furniture, Ranges, Tinware, etc., of Hempstead, N.Y. The payment was for the purchase of an "Ideal Bicycle." Note: Garner resided in Jerusalem, N.Y. (present-day Wantagh). He was a son of John Garner (?-1833) and Sarah Birdsall (1790-1836). He was a farmer and also appeared to have continued operating John C. Birdsall’s general store after Birdsall’s death.
