Description
Account statement with balance of one pound, 10 shillings, and seven pence owed to Gerard Beekman, a New York City merchant, for a purchase made by John Landing (alternate spelling for "Langdon"). On the verso is a receipt for that same amount, paid by William Landing (another alternate spelling for "Langdon") on behalf of his brother John's account. Note: John Langdon operated a mill near his house on the Mill River at Near Rockaway, N.Y.; he also probably owned a farm at Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y.
